JAKARTA: Idol group JKT48'€™s debut album, Gingham Check, has made it to the number two spot on Indonesia'€™s iTunes chart. '€œAll of the six songs in JKT48'€™s mini album have received a lot of hits from its fans. During the album'€™s launch on June 11, it even managed to get the number two spot in the Indonesia iTunes chart,'€ Inside digital music distribution head Chika Maryana told Kapanlagi.com.

Maryana added that the most requested song from the album was the title track.

JKT48 also won two awards during the recent 2014 Indonesia Music Awards (AMI).

The group won the best producer category for Yasushi Akimoto and for the best performance.

JKT48 is a local version of Japan-based idol group AKB48. It has a cult following of adult and middle-aged men fascinated with the cute group.
