Jokowi touched by concert supporters

P

residential candidate Joko"Jokowi" Widodo said that standing in front of thousands of hissupporters at Bung Karno stadium (GBK) in Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday was one of hisproudest moments.

While several famous musicians sang Slank's original song dedicated to the presidential candidate, "Salam Dua Jari" ( Victory Salute), Jokowi went on stage wearing his trademark checkered shirt while he proudly did his victory salute.

In front of the mass of supporters waving flags and wearing T-shirts with Jokowi and running mate Jusuf Kalla's face on them, Jokowi told his supporters that they were history makers and they were the sole reason that Jokowi and Kalla were running in the presidential race.

He emphasized that he and Kalla were not running because they sought power but that they were participating in the democratic process because they wanted to listen to the people's worries and to resolve problems.

Furthermore, he said that his ticket was fighting to preserve human rights, to fight against injustice, to support diversity and to preserve peace.

Jokowi also told his supporters that they were all responsible for changing Indonesia's future and that they must not stand down in the face of intimidation, lies and fraud, citing that they should help monitor the polling stations for potential fraud.

Several famous artists, including rock band Slank and singer Yuni Shara, performed at the concert, which began at  2 p.m. (fss)
