Train tickets for travelers who will go to eastern parts of Java to celebrate Idul Fitri were still available this week.
Surono, the spokesperson of state railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Region (Daop) V in Purwokerto, said the company still had around 700 tickets for sale for trips from Jakarta to Purwokerto, Yogyakarta and Surakarta, Central Java, as well as Surabaya, East Java. Business and executive tickets were available for departures made seven days and 10 days prior to Idul Fitri.
Commercial trains that still offered the seats included Purwojaya, Argo Dwipangga, Taksaka Pagi, Bima, Purwojaya Lebaran, Gajayana Lebaran and Argo Lawu Lebaran.
Surono said there were still 2,000 tickets for July 30, 31 and Aug. 8. Meanwhile, the company also still had 5,000 tickets for sale from Jakarta to Bandung in West Java and vice versa for the annual exodus.
Surono said the company was concerned with acts of sabotage occurring along the railroad in West Java to East Java. Last month, two bars of timber were placed across the rail tracks in Kebumen in Central Java.
'Passengers do not need to worry. We have prepared security personnel from our company, the TNI [Indonesian Military} and the police,' he said.
