ndonesian shuttlers have shrugged off possibly discouraging factors on the back of the late withdrawals of team aces by advancing to the next round of the 2014 BWF World Championships in Copenhagen, with the latest qualifiers being Anggia Shitta Awanda/Della Destiara Haris.

Anggia/Della secured their third round ticket after defeating China'€™s Bao Yixin/Jinhua Tang 14-21, 18-21 Wednesday afternoon Jakarta time.

Just a few days before their departure to the Scandinavian country, defending mixed doubles champions Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir and men'€™s doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan withdrew from the tournament due to injuries sustained by Tontowi and Ahsan.

Men'€™s singles Simon Santoso, who had been handed a place in the Aug. 25-31 championships after Du Pengyu of China withdrew from the event, was also forced to pull out due to dengue fever.

In Monday'€™s match program, Anggia/Della brushed aside Singapore'€™s Mingtian Fu/Yu Yan Vanessa Neo 21-18, 21-19 while Suci Rizki Andini/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah overcame their first hurdles by defeating European representatives Imogen Bankier of Scotland, who partnered with Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria, 19-21, 21-9, 21-12.

Two other women'€™s doubles pairs, Pia Zebadiah Bernadet/Rizki Amelia Pradipta and Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, who received byes in the first round, will respectively play Samantha Barning/Iris Tabeling of the Netherlands and Isabel Herttrich/Carla Nelte of Germany in the second round later on Wednesday.

In the men'€™s doubles event, Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro received a bye in the first round and will face hosts Mads Conrad-Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding.

Berry Angriawan/Ricky Karanda Suwardi, who defeated Canada'€™s Adrian Liu/Derrick Ng in the first round, went up against fellow Indonesians Gideon Markus Fernaldi/Markis Kido.

Berry said he dedicated the win to his father Ade Suhandi, who is being treated in hospital for a stroke. His father was rushed to hospital last Thursday, the same day Berry departed to Copenhagen.

'€œI hope this [win] will bring good news for him. I hope he'€™ll recover soon,'€ said Berry in a press release.

He said he was worried about his father but refused to let his worries affect his game. '€œWhen I'€™m [alone] in my room, I think of him and I get sad.'€

In the women'€™s singles event, Lindaweni Fanetri remains in contention after upsetting Thailand'€™s Nichaon Jindapon 15-21, 21-13, 21-9, but Bellaetrix Manuputty had to bow out to Taipei'€™s Tzu Ying Tai 21-12, 21-14.

Tommy Sugiarto, Indonesia'€™s sole contender in the men'€™s singles, smoothly advanced to the next round after defeating Singapore'€™s Zi Liang Derek Wong 21-12, 21-14. He was paired against Russia'€™s Vladimir Malkov in the second round later on Wednesday. In the mixed doubles, Riky Widianto/Puspita Richi Dili advanced to the third round after defeating Austria'€™s Roman Zirnwald/Elisabeth Baldauf 21-18, 21-10. Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto also advanced after outplaying compatriot Markis Kido/Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth 21-12, 21-12.

Riky/Puspita were scheduled to play against China'€™s Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei while Praveen/Debby were up against Russia'€™s Anatoliy Yartsev/Evgeniya Kosetskaya.
