ll police personnel in the city will undergo mandatory urine tests to screen for drugs after the recent arrest of two Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung) Police officers for drug possession.
'Although we won't run the urine tests on everyone ' that would be impossible ' we will use random sampling,' Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno said here on Thursday.
On Aug. 15, two officers were arrested after they were discovered to have ordered 500 ecstasy pills from Jakarta and smuggled them into a night club in Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung.
Dwi acknowledged the urine tests were not new and were conducted annually to ensure their officers were drug free.
