AKARTA: Music group Souljah wants to reaffirm reggae as its identity of choice through its new album This Is Souljah.

'€œMany people are still confused about the type of music we'€™re doing. We'€™re often said to not playing reggae music,'€ said Said, a member of the band, as quoted by kompas.com, in Jakarta.

With the new album, the members of Souljah said they wanted to show that they were a reggae band.

It has been five years since Souljah'€™s last album, Mestakung was released in 2009. The new album contains 17 songs, with the single '€œSatu Frekuensi'€ (One Frequency) produced by UK-based band Dubpistol'€™s Jason O'€™Bryan.

The band said that they were not planning to promote themselves through TV performances, opting instead to upload their video on YouTube and social media channels.
