elf-styled king of '€˜dangdut'€™ Rhoma Irama has refused to attend the national congress of the National Awakening Party (PKB), which will be held in Surabaya, East Java from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1.

Surya Aka Syahnagra, chairman of Fans of Rhoma and Soneta, said the decision was made because Rhoma respected the Red-and-White coalition, led by losing presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto.

'€Rhoma has said no,'€ he said as quoted by Antara News Agency.

He added that Rhoma also felt disappointed by party chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, for having broken his promise to support Rhoma'€™s presidential nomination.

Surya said Rhoma felt he had been manipulated by Muhaimin as vote-getter only.

Around 5,000 members of the PKB from across the archipelago will go to Surabaya to attend the congress, which is scheduled to elect a new chairman for 2014-2019. (alz)
