any workers at the Jakarta Sanitation Agency have looking to move into Blok B of the agency'€™s low cost apartments in West Cengkareng, West Jakarta since its establishment in 2007. However, the apartment has remained empty for the past seven years and has suffered from disrepair due to negligence and frequent looting.

Thirty-year-old Suedi, a non-contact worker at the agency, said he and his family wanted to move there as they were located far from the city in Sepatan, Tangerang, Banten, as reported by beritajakarta.com.

'€œBlok A is completely full, so only Blok B is empty, even though it should have been filled at the beginning of 2014. However, there'€™s still no explanation [on the fate of Blok B],'€ he said.

Another non-contact worker, Udin, spoke of similar concerns as he had been renting a house near the apartment for Rp 500,000 per month in the hope that he and his family would move there soon.

According to a Blok A occupant, 74-year-old Kaslan Bin Kasmuri, the entrance to Blok B had been closed to avoid more robberies in the apartments.

Jakarta Sanitation Agency deputy head Isnawa Adji said the agency was going to select non-contract workers to live in the apartment in the near future.

'€œWe'€™re still collecting data [on our workers] and still considering the temporary workers'€™ commitment to the agency. The agency head'€™s decree is being prepared,'€ he said, adding that those who worked in West Jakarta would be allowed to move in.
