n the latest weekend action in the Apple Coal JCA League 2014-15, Jakarta Barbarians continued their impressive start to their first season in the top flight with a well-compiled 20-run victory over GMIS on Saturday. In the Sunday action, WPP-INDIA XI recorded a close three-wicket victory over Menara while Mavecrics edged out Senayan Tigers by just one wicket in a thrilling finish.
Yet another fine knock by Ben Burgess (72) supported by Scott Masson (34) helped Jakarta Barbarians post a competitive 226/9 (35 overs) vs GMIS at the GMIS ground in Kemayoran. Maulik Trivedi (3-31) and Mohit Dilawar Singh and Nikhil D'souza (two wickets apiece) were the pick of the GMIS bowlers. Pratyush Chaturvedi (48) and Diwakar Mohan (37) kept GMIS in the hunt but Scott Masson's excellent 5-44 helped bowl them out for 206 (33 overs), giving the Barbarians a well-earned 20-run victory and the top spot in Division-1.
Kishore Gunwani (2-19), Pallav Malhotra (2-24) and Dhiraj Nagpal (2-29) combined well with the ball to dismiss Menara for 160 (34.1 overs) in Sunday's Division-1 encounter at Cibubur. Mahesh Thadani (55) and Mohit Keshwani (22) were the pick of the Menara batsmen. Regular strikes by Gajendra Asaliya (2-16) and Atul Kakkar (2-24) pinned down WPP India XI, but Rajan Raorane (54 n.o.) and Partha Kabi (28) held firm to guide WPP India XI (161/7 in 34.2 overs) to an exciting three-wicket victory with just four balls to spare.
In Division-2, Senayan Tigers were bowled out for 131 (24.5 overs) by Mavecrics at GMIS with Gema Fajar (23) top-scoring for the Tigers. Keyur Moradia was the Mavecrics' chief destroyer with 3-16. In reply, the Mavecrics found the going tough, but Yogi's 25 runs saw the Mavecrics (132/9 in 28.4 overs) scrape through to a nail-biting one-wicket victory. Muhamad Anjar Tadarus and Fernandes Nato picked up two wickets each for the Tigers.
In the upcoming action on Sunday, Sept. 7, defending champions WISCI Wanderers take on Emerio at Cibubur and TKCC meet Fez Rebels at GMIS.
