A

man has confessed to slashing his wife's throat in bed on Sunday. The suspect is currently in the custody of the Purbalingga Police in Central Java, following a report from a neighbor.

The suspect, Aksom Fattahudin, 47, of Karangnangka village, Bukateja district, Purbalingga, Central Java, said he killed and slashed the throat of his wife Miskem, 43, because she refused to have sex with him.

'I was really annoyed. I asked to have sex four times from midnight until dawn. I tried to wake her up but she scolded me instead. I eventually took a blade from the kitchen and slashed her throat,' Aksom told reporters at the Purbalingga Police station on Monday.

He added that it was not the first his wife had rejected his advances and explained that she often said she was not in the mood.

The Purbalingga Police are examining the suspect and looking into the possibility of a mental disorder. Crime and intelligence chief Adj. Comr. Sardji said the suspect had no criminal record and was a common villager who did odd jobs.

'We will keep investigating this case,' he said.
