n earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale jolted Tanah Datar, a region located around 17 kilometers southeast of Padang Panjang, West Sumatra early on Thursday, said the Disaster Mitigation National agency (BNPB).
The quake struck at a depth of 10-km below Singkarak Lake, which is located at the intersection of four districts, Koto, Batipuh and West Padang Panjang and East Padang Panjang.
The quake damaged dozens of houses and injured four people in Padang Panjang and Tanah Datar. The injured victims were identified as Ulfaiza Sahra, Tarbaini, Fauril Rozi and Ruli Afandi.
The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPD) also evacuated 64 patients from Padang Panjang General Hospital and another 41 patients from Ibnu Sina hospital.
According to the BNPB, the quake affected five regencies: Tanah Data, Solok, Bukit Tinggi, Padang Panjang and Padang Pariaman. (dic)
