s many as 14 people have died while 12 others remain missing after their boat sank in Sula Islands regency, North Maluku waters on Sunday due to bad weather.

The North Maluku National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPD) reported that the boat loaded with 35 passengers sank after it was hit by a 2-3 meter wave at about 8:30 a.m.

Nine passengers of the boat, which departed from Orifola village in Falabisahaya district to Sanana, Sula Islands, were rescued.

A joint team comprising maritime police, Indonesian Military (TNI) and Sula Port management is continuing its search for the missing passengers.
