AKARTA: Emma Watson, erstwhile Harry Potter star and current UN goodwill ambassador, delivered a rousing speech on feminism before the UN General Assembly in New York.
'The more I have spoken about feminism', the 24-year-old actress said, 'the more I have realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating ['¦.] this has to stop,' Watson said in her speech on Saturday.
Watson, who was launching the UN's He for She program, was widely praised by outlets as diverse as E! Online and the Washington Post for her speech.
'Both men and women should feel free to be strong, Watson said. 'It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum, not as two opposing sets of ideals.'
