nvestors in the financial markets are currently awaiting the policies of the incoming government, particularly with regard to fuel prices before they decide whether or not to put more money into Indonesia.
'In the short term, the investors want to find out who will be in the Cabinet, the government's policies and the fuel price,' PT Sun Life Finansial Indonesia vice president for investment Marsangap Tamba said on Thursday.
Investors need to know the government's fuel-price policies because spending on fuel subsidies accounts for a major proportion of the state budget, Antara news agency reported. President-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo may need to raise the price of subsidized fuel shortly after assuming office on Oct. 20.
'That will be a good time to raise the fuel price. The increased fuel price will not substantially affect inflation,' Tamba said.
