he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has lambasted the Singaporean authorities for not being cooperative in helping it to expedite its investigation against one of its citizens allegedly involved in a high profile graft scandal in lucrative the oil and gas sector.
Singapore-based oil trading company Kernel Oil Pte. Ltd president director Widodo Ratanachaithong through an executive from the company, Simon Gunawan Tanjaya, who has been sentenced earlier, allegedly bribed former Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKKMigas) chief Rudi Rubiandini, also sentenced, in exchange of oil and condensate tenders.
The antigraft body summoned Widodo twice as a witness in the case in last year but to no avail.
KPK deputy chairman Adnan Pandu Praja said that complexities of regulation in Singapore made it difficult for the antigraft body to prosecute Widodo in the case.
'It depends on the willingness of the Singaporean authorities [to help us expedite our investigation in the case]. It usually takes a while for us to solve this kind of case,' Adnan said on Thursday.
Adnan denied suggestion that the KPK had given up efforts to net Widodo in the case because currently it was still collecting information from other witnesses in the case to build up its case against Widodo.
