he police in Poso, Central Sulawesi, have found a new type of homemade bomb in Tamanjeka, on the Poso coast, along with other evidence allegedly belonging to an armed group led by Daeng Koro and Santoso.
'This bomb is made with a PVC pipe but functions like a hand grenade that explodes once it hits something,' Poso Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Susnadi told The Jakarta Post over the phone on Tuesday.
Susnadi said the bomb was deadly as it contained nails, iron and explosive materials.
He said the bomb was found in a hut where a recent shoot-out between joint security forces and the armed group took place.
The police, he added, intended to catch the armed group's leaders Santoso and Daeng Koro of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) because their actions were thought to be getting more dangerous.
'They haven't made only Densus 88 [police antiterror squad] their enemy but have also made civilians their targets,' Susnadi said.
