AKARTA: Indonesian freelance graphic designer Bayo Gale has won a contest to design an alternate album cover for US pop rockers Maroon 5.

'€œCongratulations to Bayo Gale on the winning artwork in our Creative Allies contest to design an alternate cover for V,'€ the band said on its website last week, tribunnews.com reported.

Bayo, whose real name is Bayu Santoso, said his concept described the band as a tiger '€” a formidable animal, despite its calm demeanor.

'€œThat'€™s how I see Maroon 5,'€ Bayo, a student of Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) in Yogyakarta, said. The band has dominated world music charts since its debut in 2002, with singles '€œMaps'€ and '€œAnimals'€ from V topping the US Billboard charts.
