he Palestinian U.N. ambassador says his government wants the U.N. Security Council to vote on a resolution before the end of the year that would set November 2016 as the deadline for Israeli troops to withdraw from all Palestinian territories.
Riyad Mansour said Friday that if the resolution is defeated ' which is almost certain because of opposition from Israel's closest ally the United States and others ' the Palestinians have other options.
He said that Palestine, which has the status of a U.N. observer state, can join more treaties and conventions and the International Criminal Court. The Palestinians joined 15 international treaties and conventions earlier this year.
Mansour said the Palestinians may also go to the General Assembly, where resolutions are not legally binding but there are no vetoes.
