n active Indonesian Military (TNI) general passedaway on Friday after performing in a marching band in front of President SusiloBambang Yudhoyono at the Military Academy Campus in Magelang, Central Java.
The general, identified as Brig. Gen. Caprianus Sumarjo, collapsed while performing with the marching band before being rushed to Magelang General Hospital.
Caprianus died from a heart condition soon after arriving at the hospital, tribunnews.com reported.
Eyewitnesses said Caprianus collapsed only 10 meters from the finish line, shortly before arriving in front of Yudhoyono.
Caprianus was a flutist member of the marching band, which was performing to honor Yudhoyono, an alumni of the academy, who will soon wrap up his presidency Oct. 20.
Members of the marching band are mostly alumna of the academy.
The remains of Caprianus are to be flown to his home in Serpong, Tangerang, Banten, where he will be buried.
