judge at the South Jakarta District Court on Fridayrejected former Transportation Agency head Udar Pristono's request to overturnhis detention by the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
'The AGO has followed official procedure in its investigation to arrest Udar and has the authority to do so,' judge Nur Aslam said after the court session.
Udar was arrested as a suspect in a graft case in connection with the procurement of faulty Transjakarta buses from China worth Rp 1 trillion (US$88 million) and has been in detention since Sept. 17. Besides Udar, nine others, including several officers from the agency, were also held as suspects in the case.
Udar filed a lawsuit against the AGO for having arrested him since he claimed to have followed official procedures in procuring the China-made buses.
Separately, Udar's lawyer, Eggi Sudjana, said he was disappointed in the court's verdict because Udar's arrest warrant did not describe what crime his client had committed.
'We will file another lawsuit through Udar's family as it is allowed by law,' he said, adding a third party was allowed to file a lawsuit if the arrest or investigation was deemed to be against the law.
