Puan would be a suitable minister: Indo Barometer

J

akarta-based pollster Indo Barometer M.Qodari said Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) political division head Puan Maharani, also the daughter of party chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri, would be a suitable minister.

He said Puan, with her vast political experience and achievements as a representative of the party, was capable enough to be a minister, even a coordinating minister.

'€œPuan is also head of the PDI-P faction'€™s at the House of Representatives. Her achievements are the result of her direct involvement in her party'€™s political dynamics,'€ said Qodari as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Monday.

He further said that Puan had a strong political network and that she once occupied several central positions in the field of politics.

'€œPuan has a strong network thanks to her background and political experience at the House and the PDI-P central executive board. I think that as a politician she is more than ready [to become a minister],'€ said Qodari.

On Indo Barometer'€™s list of ministerial candidates, Puan, along with two other candidates, National Awakening Party chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and Pramono Anung, a PDI-P politician, are nominated as coordinating culture and human development minister.

"These names were generated from analysis of mass media and information from community groups and sources deemed credible and relevant. However, there will likely be changes,'€ said Qodari. (ebf)
