panish striker David Villa scored from the edge of the box with three minutes remaining to give Melbourne City a 1-1 draw with Newcastle in Australia's A-League Sunday.
Villa, Spain's all-time leading international scorer, was playing in his second match of a 10-match stint with City. He also scored in his opening match last weekend.
Villa is on loan from Major League Soccer side New York City ' both New York and Melbourne City are affiliates of English Premier League club Manchester City.
Edson Montana gave the Jets a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
Perth is the only team with two wins after two rounds after Irish striker Andy Keogh's second goal of the match two minutes into injury time gave the Glory a 3-2 win over the defending champion Brisbane Roar, who are 0-2.
On Saturday, Michael McGlinchey, booed by his former fans, played a prominent role in Wellington Phoenix' 2-1 away win over Central Coast Mariners. New Zealand international McGlinchey scored a first-half equalizer and was involved in the build-up to the 53rd-minute winner from Nathan Burns at Gosford north of Sydney.
McGlinchey was granted an early termination of his contract last month to join the Phoenix after five seasons with the Mariners which included a league title.
Alex Brosque scored in the 79th minute to give Sydney FC a 3-2 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers, having trailed 2-0 after 24 minutes before 41,000 fans in a Sydney derby.
More than 100 Sydney FC fans invaded the Sydney Football Stadium pitch when Brosque scored the match-winner. Football Federation Australia said Sunday it will investigate the incident.
"Of course it's a concern ' in terms of security for players, you don't want to see that," said Wanderers coach Tony Popovic.
Sydney counterpart Graham Arnold said he wasn't worried.
"Look, that just shows you how much it meant to our fans to beat Western Sydney," he said.
The Wanderers, set to play the Asian Champions League final against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, have lost both their opening A-League matches.
On Friday, Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory saved all their scoring for late in a 1-1 draw. Sergio Cirio gave the home side the lead in the 85th minute, only to have substitute Fahid Ben Khalfallah level with a minute remaining in regular time.
A-League officials said Sunday the weekend matches broke a total attendance record at the five second-round venues in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Gosford. They said 106,082 spectators broke the previous mark set in the opening round last year when 100,998 fans came through the gates. (**)
