usinesswoman Susi Pudjiastuti says she will resign from private carrier PT ASI Pudjiastuti Aviation (Susi Air) and fish exporting company PT ASI Pudjiastuti Marine Products, after being inaugurated by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla as the new maritime affairs and fisheries minister.
Similarly, businessman Rachmat Gobel said he would resign as president director of electronic equipment company PT Gobel International after being appointed trade minister.
Susi said she would resign from the companies that she had established and in which she served as president directors as she wanted to focus on her new job as minister.
'I must also resign to protect myself from a conflict of interest. I have to work [as a minister] to the maximum,' she said on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
Rachmat said he would resign as he wanted to focus on developing the country through his post as trade minister. (alz)
