Indonesian Foreign Ministr director of public diplomacy Al Busyra Basnur said Indonesia's participation in the dialogues jointly held by the Indonesian government and its counterparts in Slovakia and Poland was aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of various groups and society elements in friendly countries about Indonesia, especially on its diversity and moderate religious life.
'Interfaith cooperation between Indonesia and several friendly countries has been followed up with various activities, such as lecturer exchanges, student exchanges in various short courses, and joint publications of various thoughts about harmony and tolerance in religious life,' said Al Busyra on Tuesday.
Among Indonesian religious leaders who will speak in the forums are Agus Ulahayanan (Catholicism), Martin Lukito Sinaga (Protestantism) and Candra Setiawan (Confucianism). Two academics, Mudjia Rahardjo of the State Islamic University (UIN) Malang and Azyumardi Azra of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, will participate in the dialogues.
Al Busyra and two senior officials from the Religious Affairs Ministry ' director general of Catholic community guidance Eusabius Binsasi and head of religious followers harmony center Mubarok ' will also speak in the forums.
The Indonesian delegation will hold a dialogue with communities and a religion study at the University of Comenius and will attend a general lecture at the University St. Cyril & Methodius Trnava during the Interfaith Dialogue program in Slovakia, which is set to take place from Oct. 27 to Oct. 31.
The delegation is scheduled to hold a dialogue with cardinal Bratislava and the grand mufti of Bratislava Mosque and meet with officials from the Bratislava administration and the Slovakian Foreign Ministry.
To support the dialogue, the Indonesian Embassy in Bratislava will hold a screening of two movies -- Senyawa (Compound) by Wregas Banuteja and Tanda Tanya (A Question Mark) by Hanung Bramantyo ' which convey messages of harmony and tolerance.
In Poland, on Nov.1 to Nov.6, the Indonesian delegation will hold a general lecture at the University of Bialystiok and meet with officials from the local administration. (ebf)(++++)
