RI ranks 7th among world'€™s friendliest countries

A

recent survey includes Indonesia as one of the 10 friendliest countries towards foreigners in the world, ensuring any visitor who wants a warm welcome to visit the country.

The Expat Insider 2014 survey commissioned by InterNations, the first international community for all people living and working abroad, places Indonesia in seventh place out of 61 countries surveyed for their friendliness '€“ or for the friendly attitudes of local people -- towards foreigners coming to the countries.

'€œMexico tops the list of friendliest countries in the world, followed by Brazil and New Zealand which ranks second and third, respectively,'€ InterNations announced in the survey posted on its website, internations.org.

Also from a similar survey, Indonesia ranks as the eighth happiest countries in the world, a status awarded based on its people'€™s quality of life. Ecuador is named as the happiest country in the world, followed by the Philippines and Colombia, which rank second and third respectively.

In the category of '€œease of settling in'€, Indonesia ranks ninth among countries with the highest level of easiness for expatriates to stay.

In the category of language, Indonesia ranks 11th. Kenya tops the list, followed by Malaysia and Singapore, which rank second and third.

In the category of '€œfinding friends'€, Indonesia ranks 10th among countries easiest for expatriates to find new friends.

The Expat Insider 2014 is the biggest expat survey worldwide with a total of 1.4 million people participating in the survey.

In June, InterNations posed a variety of questions about life experiences to nearly 14,000 expatriates from over 160 countries around the globe for the Expat Insider survey. (alz/ebf)
