The Masjid Agung Transjakarta busway stop on Jl
he Masjid Agung Transjakarta busway stop on Jl. Sisingamangaraja in South Jakarta will be dismantled for the mass rapid transit (MRT) project, an executive says.
The old bus stop will be replaced by two new bus stops that have been completed and tested: one in front of the Al-Azhar mosque compound and the other on Jl. Hang Tuah III.
City-owned MRT project operator PT MRT Jakarta president director Dono Boestami said the demolition was necessary as the contractor was preparing the location for building a transit way from the elevated structure to an underground one.
During the construction, the contractor will also install an iron framework in the area. 'The adjustment is necessary to make way for the construction of the Sisingamangaraja station,' Dono said in a press statement made available on Tuesday.
MRT Jakarta construction director M. Nasyir said that the contractor will begin the construction of a permanent structure in the area in November, resulting in the narrowing of the road.
'We will eliminate one lane on each side of the road. We apologize for the inconvenience,' he said.
