ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has appointed deputy secretary-general Hasto Kristiyanto as acting secretary general of the party, replacing Tjahjo Kumolo, who has been installed by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo as Home Minister.
'After being inaugurated [as minister], I resigned as secretary-general. Hasto is the acting secretary general right now,' Tjahjo said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
'I tendered my resignation on Oct. 28,' he added.
Tjahjo said that Megawati, as party leader, had the authority to choose who would replace him as secretary-general.
He said that Hasto was appointed during a plenary meeting on Oct. 30. (alz)(++++)
