Putting it briefly: Three foreign teams join IST

J

AKARTA: Jakarta is all geared up to host the 19th Jakarta International Sixes Tournament on Nov. 1-2 in Cibubur. Eight teams, including three foreign teams this year, will be participating in the tournament.

'€œIt is six-a-side game, hence the name. Thirty-one matches will be played over two days, with each match constituting five overs and each over constituting five balls,'€ said Jakarta Cricket Association (JCA) president Randy Reckerman.

'€œOver the years, the sixes tournament has become one of the premier events of the JCA, with foreign teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Brunei, along with teams from Jakarta and Bali vying for the top spot,'€ said tournament director Avakash Lohia.

He said with an overwhelming emphasis on providing two days of extravaganza for participants and spectators, the tournament had attracted serious and social cricketers in equal measure.
