myGadget: Steven Tach:Closely attached to gadgets

Japanese designer Steven Tach is very much attached to his gadgets, especially his smartphone. For him, gadgets have made his life easier as they support his work and social activities.

However, his attachment to gadgets does not necessarily make him a person who always upgrades a gadget to the latest version if he thinks he can still make the most of it.

Before being a designer, Tach, 35, was an engineer. He graduated from the Shibaura Institute of Technology in Tokyo, working at an interior design firm and in the public relations division of a fashion brand before establishing his own fashion company.

In 2011, he launched his own line, STeVen TACH, and just recently launched a secondary line, bau steven tach. '€œFashion makes people happy because it'€™s closer to them '€” they wear it,'€ he says.

He added that he likes the profession because he can design the clothes in Japan and send them to other parts of the country, allowing other people to see and admire his work, too. '€œArchitectural works are static; they can'€™t move and people have to go to a certain place to see the beauty, but clothes can actually do the opposite,'€ Tach said.

Here are Tach'€™s favorite gadgets:

iPhone

I have been using the iPhone 4s for around two years. The iPhone is easy to operate. I like taking pictures with it because the quality of the camera is quite good.

I still use iOS 7 for my iPhone and have not upgraded to iOS 8 because it'€™s an old phone and it would work too slowly if I update it.

I think I will buy an iPhone 6 so I can get the latest features of iPhone.

Macbook Air

I always bring the laptop everywhere. I keep all my work there and sometimes use it to browse websites on architecture and interior design.

Fashion applications

The Style.com application is my favorite; I read them every day. I can know the latest news in the fashion industry, see fashion shows from many designers and look for the latest trends to inspire me.

Social media and instant messaging applications

I have friends in other countries and thanks to WhatsApp and Line, I can always keep in contact with them. I also have several social media applications, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I use them mostly for work, but sometimes I also share personal things, like posting selfies on Instagram. Social media apps are also helpful in promoting my work, many like to see and buy my designs after seeing my postings on Facebook and Instagram.
