The Sanglah forensic team autopsied the victim's body Tuesday night. However, as yet, there is no final conclusion over the cause of the death.
"We have to wait for the histopathology and toxicology laboratory results to find the cause of death, whether he died from drowning or another cause," forensic team head Ida Bagus Putu Alit said.
Alit said that forensic team found bruises on the victim's right temple. However, that was not the cause of death.
"We didn't find any wounds or signs of violence. Only a bruise to the temple," he said. The team also found several signs of drowning, such as swollen lungs.
"The fingers were also wrinkled, showing the body had been in the water for hours," Alit said.
Bavik Shah, from Mumbai, was on honeymoon with his wife when he went missing while rafting on Monday. Shah and wife were with four other friends at the time. It was reported that Shah was with his wife, two friends and two guides in one boat.
Two other friends were in a different boat. They started rafting from Melinggih village in Payangan sub-district, Gianyar regency.
Not long after, as they had to pass through steep terrain, the guide suggested anyone who was afraid should get out of the boat and walk until they got to a safer area.
Shah and one friend decided to stay in the boat, while his wife and the other friend decided to walk. One guide stayed in the boat, while the other accompanied the women.
Unfortunately, the boat hit a large rock and capsized, causing everyone in it to fall into the river. Based on Shah's friend's statement, Shah reached a rock in the river and was seen sitting on it.
But as he and the guide took the boat there, Shah suddenly vanished. His body was found Tuesday afternoon, stuck between rocks in the deep river.
