A sign in a construction site located on Jl. Pekojan Raya 61 in Kota Tua (Old Town) area in West Jakarta, popularly known as the Kampung Arab, indicates that a four-story office building is about to be built, replacing a historic private home built in the 1920s.
Your comments:
The heritage of Jakarta is being slowly eroded away, and unlike many other capitals, the powers that be are doing nothing to refurbish or upgrade the older buildings. It's time for people to realize that tourists and travelers come to Jakarta and other centers to enjoy the history and heritage.
The canals region, and also the buildings in the area desperately need to be cleaned up and allowed to stand because, whether the Indonesians like it or not, it is part and parcel of the heritage and history of the region and it's what people like myself came to see.
