em>Your comments on the appointment of Muhammad Prasetyo, a member of the NasDem party, as attorney general, which many said to be a setback for law-enforcement efforts:

Indonesia is a democratic nation and as such it is our obligation to watch and follow up whether HM Prasetyo, as an attorney general, is people-oriented or a more political-party tied individual.

We do need an honest to goodness attorney general if we are to be respected by the rest of the world. Let us get out of this almost seven decades of corruption if we want the respect of the world.

The newly appointed attorney general has a poor career record. So there must be underlying reasons as to why he is able to climb so high up.

He should be ready to fight the corrupt practices hurting the nation. Prasetyo can take a leaf from China'€™s aggressive national drive against corruption.

To President Jokowi,

Sir, allow me to tersely express to you that an attorney general of a country is someone who assumes the role of chief law officer or senior legal advisor to the government. In other words, he is a legal officer to act in all cases in which the state is a party.

This man, Prasetyo, whom you have chosen has only handled general criminal cases for a little over one year and you think he is fit to reform bureaucracy and fight the ongoing corruption in the country?

Didn'€™t you say before the elections that you would form the best team to help you run the country? Why go back on your words after only one month in office? But if you do keep him and should he fail to deliver, please remember your golden words: '€œIf I am elected president, ministers who cannot work based on meeting a target will be sacked. It is very easy and potential replacements would be lining up.'€

Regardless of his background, let the newly appointed attorney general prove he has the guts to reform his institution.
