olice nabbed on Thursday three men who earlier claimed to be United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) generals for illegally using military symbols.
'They are not military members, but were wearing the symbols on their uniforms,' Medan Police crime division chief Comr. Wahyu Intanto Bram told The Jakarta Post.
Wahyu said police had not detained the suspects ' identified as Aditya Bambang, 67, from Mataram, Syarifuddin P Simbolon, 48, of Jakarta; and Jemi Mokodonfit, 44, from Manado ' as the law carried a maximum sentence of less than five years in prison.
The three men were arrested by the Bukit Barisan military police on Monday while stuck in a traffic jam. The suspects had also claimed to be members of a US peacekeeping force and of NGOs looking to meet with government officials. (***)
