Russian woman has been detained by Ngurah Rai Airport customs officials for allegedly smuggling 2.1 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as shabu-shabu, on a flight from Hong Kong on Sunday afternoon.
Magnaeva Aleksandra, 26, was arrested Sunday at 6 p.m. at Ngurah Rai International Airport as she arrived on Hong Kong Airlines flight HX 707. 'The drugs were placed in hidden pockets in two pieces of luggage,' airport customs office head Budi Harjanto announced on Thursday.
Budi said customs officers found the crystal methamphetamine wrapped in 10 packages.
Budi added that the suspect confessed that she was told to carry the drugs by her boyfriend, supposedly a South African who lives in Hong Kong. (***)
