Dutch universities open new round of scholarships

'€œWe are very glad that this year Orange Tulip Scholarships will provide Indonesian talent with the opportunity to study in a world-class higher education system and develop them into global citizens,'€ Nuffic Neso Indonesia director Mervin Bakker said in a release made available to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

He said apart from its high quality education, the Netherlands had a lot to offer.

'€œDutch universities are truly international in terms of staff, students and their curricula. In class students are encouraged to solve academic and real life cases within this international environment, thus preparing them for the competitive global workplace,'€ Bakker said.

The Netherlands also offered a safe and tolerant study environment that felt like a home from home for Indonesian students, he went on.

Twenty six different Dutch higher education institutions are contributing to the OTS program for 2015. There will be 39 different scholarship schemes and 69 individual scholarships available that represent a total value of '‚¬713,250.

The study programs on offer within OTS are: Foundation programs, Bachelor'€™s and Master'€™s degrees in a wide variety of subjects. The number of Dutch universities participating and scholarship schemes offered in this year's OTS is up by 18 percent and by 48 percent from the OTS 2014, respectively.

Each scholarship has a different funding structure. Most are in the form of partial or full tuition fee waivers, while other schemes cover living costs, or costs for visa, and/or insurance.

More information on participating institutions, programs, procedures and deadlines can be found at nesoindonesia.or.id/ots. (ebf)(+++)
