'Amid the anticipation of results of the Federal Open Market Committee [FOMC] meeting on the [US Federal Reserve] rate, the market's movement has tended to be flat; however, there is no need to worry because the Fed will still give signs that its benchmark interest rate increase will not occur faster than what has been predicted,' Mandiri Sekuritas head of equity research John Rachmat said as quoted by Antara news agency in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said the potential of the JCI to continue to strengthen was still there until the end of this year and a consensus on the interest rate hike would start to emerge around June 2015.
'It's projected that the JCI position at the end of this year will be able to reach 5,350 points,' he said.
Asjaya Indosurya Securities analyst William Suryawijaya said the JCI, which had strengthened again, showed that its strengthening potential would still continue until the end of this year.
'The JCI has an opportunity to record quite attractive growth so that investors will be more interested in investing in the domestic capital market,' he said.
On Wednesday, the Indonesia Stock Market (IDX) recorded 326,805 transactions with 5.43 billion shares worth Rp 4.93 trillion (US$389.34 million). As many as 177 stocks strengthened and 140 others weakened while 91 stocks were stagnant.
