ransportation Minister Ignasius Jonan says that his institution will immediately and thoroughly review the operations of AirAsia Indonesia after one of its Airbus A320-200 jets carrying 162 people went missing on Sunday morning.
"We will review the entire operations of AirAsia Indonesia to make sure its performance can be better in the future," Jonan told the press at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Banten, west of Jakarta, on Monday.
"We will review a lot of things including its business operations so that we can later see safety improvements."
He also asked the management of the airline to pay attention to regulations in Indonesia regarding compensation to family members and relatives of the passengers, as well as insurance.
Of the people on board the Airbus A320-200 flight QZ8501 bound for Singapore from Surabaya in East Java, 155 are Indonesians, three are South Koreans, one is British, one is French, one is Malaysian and one is Singaporean, according to manifest data from the airline. (nfo)
