ngela Anggi Ranastianis, 25, the daughter of AirAsia flight QZ8501 pilot Iriyanto, 53, pleaded on her Path page late on Sunday for her father to come home after the aircraft carrying 162 people disappeared on Sunday morning.

"Papa, come home, I still need you. Bring back my papa. Papa, please come home," wrote Angela.

Iriyanto, born on Dec. 12, 1961, married Widya Sukati Putri before settling in Sidoarjo, East Java '€” an hour'€™s drive from Surabaya where flight QZ8501 departed for Singapore.

The pair has two children '€” Angela and eight-year-old Arya Galih Gegana.

Many have described Iriyanto as an experienced Air Force pilot who flew F-16 fighter jets before becoming a commercial pilot in 1993, including with Adam Air, an airline operator that was forced to shut down in 2008 after a string of accidents.

Iriyanto, who has a penchant for classic motorcycles, is a member of local high motorcycle club MBC.

AirAsia said Iriyanto had logged a total of 6,100 flying hours, and the copilot, French national Remi Emmanual Plesel, had 2,275 hours. (ren)(++++)
