he director of Dr Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya, East Java has said at least six psychiatrists and three psychologists have been readied to assist the families of those on board missing AirAsia flight QZ8501, who are gathering at the AirAsia Crisis Center in Terminal 2 of Surabaya's Juanda International Airport.
'We divided them into three work periods: 8 a.m. to noon, noon to 4 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,' said Dodo Anondo.
The hospital director said the psychiatrists and psychologists would be assigned to help calm family members who are being confronted with sadness and grief at losing their loved ones on flight QZ8501, which lost contact with air traffic control while traveling from Surabaya to Singapore on Sunday.
Meanwhile, state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) I president director Tomi Sutomo said it had provided various services, including beds, for the families of AirAsia passengers at the crisis center.
He said AP I had also provided teleconference facilities that the passengers' families could use to talk directly with officials at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) headquarters in Jakarta.
The Transportation Ministry's acting director general of air transportation, Djoko Murjatmodjo, confirmed on Tuesday that wreckage discovered in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, was from flight QZ8501.
'It has been confirmed that it is debris from an aircraft bearing red and white colors,' he said, citing that the debris was found by the ministry's rescue team. (ebf)(+++)
