usi Air will cease flying the Muara Teweh-Palangkaraya route in Central Kalimantan as of Wednesday following the expiry of a subsidy agreement.
'Today is the last day of flights in that route because the contract has ended,' Sidik, an official at Beringin Airport in Muara Teweh, said as quoted by Antara on Tuesday.
According to Sidik, the central government had subsidized the tickets, priced at Rp 237,000 (US$18) for adults and Rp 32,000 for infants, for the thrice-weekly flights.
'We don't know who won the tender to provide the subsidized flights in Central Kalimantan next year. The subsidized flights will probably resume in March next year,' he said.
Although the Muara Teweh-Palangkaraya flights have been stopped, Sidik said Susi Air would still provide subsidized flights from Muara Teweh to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, and Muara Teweh to Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan.
