The Public Works Agency in Tangerang Municipality has built 53 modest houses to improve the condition of slum areas.
Public Works Agency head Nana Tristyana said the 53 houses had been built in five subdistricts ' Gandasari, Periuk, Poris Gaga, Buaran Indah and Cikokol.
'The construction of these houses is complete and they have been occupied by local residents,' he said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Tuesday.
Nana said his agency also had completed the construction of 860 low-cost apartments for low-income families.
