The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has recruited younger players to replace the under-performing ones.
'The composition of players is comprised mostly of young players. Tommy [Sugiarto] and Simon [Santoso] are the only senior players left in the men's singles event [on the national team]. The rest are young players, such as Jonathan [Christie], Ihsan [Maulana Mustofa] and many others,' PBSI's head of development and achievement Rexy Mainaky said in a statement on Tuesday.
'The same goes for the women's [singles] events, with only Linda [Wenifanetri] and Bellaetrix [Manuputty] left,' he added.
The players who join the national squad will start training at the Cipayung camp on Jan. 4 and will undergo health and physical tests the next day.
List of men's singles players: Tommy Sugiarto, Simon Santoso, Ihsan Maulana Mustofa, Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Firman Abdul Kholik, Muhammad Bayu Pangisthu, Riyanto Subagja.
Women's singles: Linda Wenifanetri, Bellaetrix Manuputty, Hanna Ramadini, Dinar Dyah Ayustine, Gregoria Mariska, Fitriani.
Men's doubles: Hendra Setiawan, Mohammad Ahsan, Angga Pratama, Rian Agung Saputro, Ricky Karanda Suwardi, Berry Angriawan, Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira, Ade Yusuf, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Fajar Alvian, Hardianto, Kenas Adi Haryanto, Rian Swastedian, Hantoro.
Women's doubles: Greysia Polii, Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, Suci Rizki Andini, Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah, Anggia Shitta Awanda, Della Destiara Haris, Gebby Ristiyani Imawan, Rosyita Eka Putri Sari, Maretha Dea Giovani, Melvira Oklamona, Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani, Nisak Puji Lestari, Rika Rositawati, Meirisa Cindy Sahputri.
