he hiking trail up Mount Kerinci in Jambi is still closed to the public and the mountain's status has been raised to caution, one level up from normal.
'The hiking path is still closed from the Mt. Kerinci observation post until further notice,' Kerinci Seblat National Park task force commander Sephadi said on Thursday.
Mount Kerinci observation post head Indra Gunawan said the volcano was currently undergoing significant changes.
These changes include emitting gas believed to contain sulfur, which is hazardous to hikers.
'Based on the latest condition, the storm is still strong and gas containing sulfur is still being emitted from the crater, so it is harmful to living things,' said Indra.
