he Jakarta Police wrapped up Operasi Lilin (Operation Candle) on Wednesday with 21,539 traffic violations.

Operation Candle, which was conducted from Dec. 24 to Dec. 31, was a security operation by the police to safeguard Christmas and New Year'€™s Eve celebrations.

'€œThere were a total of 21,539 traffic violations during Operasi Lilin; 15,128 of those were given tickets, while the remaining 6,411 were given warnings,'€ Jakarta Traffic Police operational unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto told The Jakarta Post via text message on Thursday.

He went on that there were a total of 72 traffic accidents that killed 10 people and injured 85 others. Material losses, Budiyanto said, reached a total of Rp 216.6 million (US$17,412).
