ational Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) chief Air Marshal F Henry Bambang Sulistyo says four large objects believed to be from AirAsia Flight QZ8501 have been detected by the MV Geo Survey ship.

'€œThrough the Geo Survey, a ship able to detect objects underwater, we have found four large pieces of the aircraft,'€ said Sulistyo on Saturday as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said all four objects were in the vicinity of the priority search area and were relatively close to each other.

Earlier in the day, Sulistyo said that sonar from joint search and rescue teams'€™ vessels captured two large objects that were believed to be from the aircraft. Based on the discovery of an oil slick on Friday, three sonar-equipped ships were scrambled to the priority area and located pieces of the plane.

The Geo Survey is attempting a visual of two of the objects through a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), but is facing waves of 2.5 to 4 meters in height.

The two objects are at a depth of 30 meters in the priority search area. (dyl/nvn)
