Incessant rain since Thursday has inundated at least 36 locations across Jakarta.
"The level of rivers is safe, but 36 locations are inundated," Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), said on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said the water volume of the Ciliwung, Karet, Krukut, Pesanggrahan, Angke, Cipinang and Sunter rivers, was normal despite the heavy rain.
However, parts of the capital city were inundated due to the poor drainage system, he said.
The Jakarta disaster mitigation office reported that North Jakarta had 25 flooded areas, East Jakarta three, South Jakarta three, West Jakarta four and Central Jakarta one. (hhr)
