Guess what?: Lola'€™s films in Library of Congress

AKARTA: Negeri Tanpa Telinga (A Nation without Ears), a feature film by actress and filmmaker Lola Amaria, has become an item in the Library of Congress archives in the US.

'€œIt was the Library of Congress itself that requested the film,'€ Lola, 37, was quoted by tempo.co as saying about her 2014 film that criticizes politicians.

She further said the library had also asked for copies of others of her films '€” Sanubari Jakarta (Heartbeat of Jakarta, 2013), Kisah 3 Titik (A Tale of 3 Titiks, 2010) and Minggu Pagi di Victoria Park (Sunday Morning at Victoria Park, 2010) '€” for the archive.

Meanwhile, Australia'€™s Library of Congress has also asked Lola'€™s permission to file a copy of her Inerie Mama Cantik (Beautiful Mother Inerie, 2014) film.

'€œ[Australia'€™s library] asked me about archiving Inerie Mama Cantik three months ago,'€ she said.

Inerie talks about the high mortality rate of mothers delivering babies and that of babies in East Nusa Tenggara.

Besides directing and producing films, Lola is also known for her roles in films such as Ca Bau Kan (2002) and Novel Tanpa Huruf '€œR'€ (A Novel without the Letter '€œR'€, 2003).
