Issue of the day: PDI-P launches attack on KPK boss

J

strong>Jan. 23, p1

In a move perceived by many as a cavalier counterattack against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has accused the antigraft body'€™s chairman, Abraham Samad, of abusing his power in retaliation for the failure of his bid to become vice president.

The KPK has strongly denied the allegations and threatened to sue the party for slander. However, it also vowed to examine the claims in order to publicize the truth.

The commission recently named National Police chief hopeful Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan a graft suspect, a move the PDI-P insists was motivated by Abraham'€™s resentment of the police general, who was allegedly instrumental in thwarting Abraham'€™s ambition to be the running mate of Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo in last year'€™s presidential election.

Your comments:

Hasto Kristiyanto, all your wild accusations are aimed to break up the KPK and Abraham Samad in order that Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan can get on the high pedestal.

So what if you have won this kind of cheap publicity and shouting?

But are you brave enough to openly confirm to the nation that you and your party support an allegedly corrupt police officer to be the National Police chief?

Come on, say yes or no?

The problem is that you people have incorrigibly corrupt brains '€” you'€™d rather support an evil culture than shame the devil in your midst.

Luwanto

It'€™s all about PDI-P, it'€™s all about Megawati, it'€™s all about Jokowi; it is all just about Budi.

Amongst all this, is there anyone who cares about Indonesia or Indonesians?

Does anyone care where I am going to get my next rupiah to buy a kilogram of cheap rice and tempeh to feed my family?

Malam

It'€™s quite sad, but I really had a lot of hope for the new president. It is, however, business as usual. It is sad for you all. Another four months and the contract is up.

I think I will be heading out before the big coup.

And so now Jokowi is out on a limb all alone '€” opposed by the
Red-and-White Coalition and dumped by the PDI-P! So, this is the time for some bold steps that will win public support '€” it'€™s about time Jokowi woke up and became the president of Indonesia!

Terry McAsee

The PDI-P is now a liability for Jokowi.

This would not happen with Ibu Mega'€™s consent or, perhaps, it is her initiative?

Henry Manoe

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Abraham Samad should answer with a confirmation, '€œYes'€, or denial, '€œNo'€, to the questions: did he attend meetings seeking to be the President'€™s running mate?

Was it him in the photos with Miss Indonesia?

Cahaya

Admittedly, the '€œleaked details'€ of those alleged meetings in which Samad, according to Hasto, appeared in a green mask do sound like very cheap TV soap operas and are obviously meant for people who watch this kind of no-brain TV entertainment day in day out on RCTV and SCTV and believe the melodramatic stories told there.
