'For this year, we will supply electricity to 47 outer and remote islands. The government has set a target to complete the project by this year's end,' PLN construction and renewable energy director Nasri Sebayang said as quoted by Antara news agency in Tanjunguban, Bintan, on Wednesday.
According to Nasri, the firm has commenced the bidding process.
'We've prepared some locations for the plants and we've completed most of the requirements,' he said, adding that the project would cost Rp 1.2 trillion (US$95.92 million).
The capacity of the plants will vary according to the population on the respective island that each plant caters for, Nasri explained. (***)
