Jackie Chan was bestowed the honorary title of datuk from the Malaysian government, tribunnews.com reported on Thursday.

The actor was among 71 recipients who were conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah, which carries with it the royal title, in conjunction with the nation'€™s Federal Territories Day on Feb. 1.

Previous honorees include Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and the luminous Malaysian-Chinese actress Michelle Yeoh.

Malaysian Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor said that Chan deserved the datukship. '€œChan is an actor with many fans in Malaysia and can promote Malaysia especially Kuala Lumpur.'€

Chan'€™s Police Story 3: Super Cop in 1992 was shot in Kuala Lumpur.
